I'm worried my kids won't pull it together for the shoot. What happens if they go full crazy town during the session?

What kind of gear do you use?
Probably every parent is worried about this one. Luckily, I've got two of my own and am totally used to it. Make sure to talk to them in advance so they can be mentally prepared. My kids respond well to the prospect of treats, so I usually have something locked and loaded as an extra incentive. You know what motivates your kids - a photo session is a good moment to deploy your best tricks!
Once you arrive, my goal is to make the session fun for the whole family, and I have a few of my own tricks to help manage kids and get those genuine smiles. We're going to play games, do a little dancing and maybe have a sing-a-long. And besides, kids being their goofy selves often make for the best candid shots. Your job is to trust the process! As more than one mom has told me after seeing her gallery, "wow wow you are a magician!"
A quick google search will turn up loads of best practices for family outfits. In general, I'd recommend a co-ordinating but not matching color scheme. Avoid busy patterns, but certainly go for texture! And most of all, dress appropriately for the weather. If the clothes are uncomfortable, restricting, or you feel too hot or too cold, it will show in the photos. I'm always available to help put the details together, so once your session is booked, you can start texting me ideas!
Overcast days can actually make for beautiful pictures. Make sure to dress warmly in case it's a little chilly so you are all comfortable and relaxed.
In the unfortunate event that it is raining and I decide we are not able to do the shoot, we can reschedule for another day.
You have the option of ordering prints directly through me, or you can download digital files to be printed with a lab of your choosing.
One advantage to using the professional labs that have partnered with this website is that I will be able to review your order (checking the crop, for example) before the files are sent off. Orders ship on average 1-7 days from the time they are placed.
